Earlier this morning Sony revealed their next generation portable to relevant investors and the press. Cleverly codenamed the “Next Generation Portable”, the device offers many features that were previously leaked and rumored by journalists across the spectrum. What, exactly, was confirmed?
Sony’s motion controller, PlayStation Move, doesn’t have a built-in microphone – let alone voice recognition a la Kinect – so how are PS3 fanatics expected to communicate with comrades when playing Socom 4, Metal Gear Solid, or Call of Duty: Black Ops? PlayStation users, for the last four years, have been stuck with a oversized, uncomfortable Bluetooth earpiece that had more downsides than advantages. Poor noise cancellation, limited capability with mobile devices, and inadequate gaming features plagued the initial iteration of the headset. This revision features not only a sleeker look and a lesser burden, but fixes many of the setbacks of its predecessor.
